22 June 2006 A sporting chance in Lisbon
The seventh annual RTP Portugal Half Marathon taking place on September 24th is a 21 km run which takes participants through the streets of Lisbon and over the magnificent landmark, the Vasco de Gama Bridge.
The race is a wonderful and unique way to see the historic Portuguese city and those with less stamina have the option of taking part in the eight km EDP Mini Marathon.
Whichever activity travellers choose to take part in it is advised to ensure they have the new European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), to guard against expensive hospital bills.
The EHIC, which has replaced the old E111 form, ensures you can receive low cost, if not free health care, if struck down by injury or illness within Europe.
