08 February 2008 Airbase opens in France
Budget airline easyJet has announced that its 19th airbase at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France, has been officially opened.
A ceremony took place in front of the Eiffel Tower to mark the new base yesterday in the presence of French minister for tourism and consumption, Luc Chatel.
The opening comes after the inaugural easyJet flight of a Palma Mallorca route took place from East Midlands Airport yesterday.
Andy Harrison, easyJet's Chief Executive, commented: "easyJet's unique combination of low fares, care and convenience has proven to be very popular in France over the last 12 years, and there is a strong desire among consumers for more choice"
He added that the opening of the new airbase was a "vital" step for the budget airline.
The airline is seeking to double its presence in France ahead of 2011.
