14 December 2007 Airline predicts "record" Christmas travel
Budget airline easyJet has anticipated that a "record" number of holidaymakers will travel abroad on its planes this Christmas.
According to easyJet, more than one million Britons will fly using its services this yuletide to enjoy overseas Christmases with relatives or simply for a festive winter sun break.
The airline also listed the top destinations in Europe for holidaymakers looking to take a Christmas break as Geneva, Amsterdam, Malaga and Barcelona - with Spain the overall number one country for seasonal travellers.
"Domestic travel has also seen an increase this year, with families and friends travelling home for the festivities, the most popular routes for Londoners are Scotland and Belfast, while Scots favour London, Belfast and Bristol," easyJet noted.
Earlier this month Post Office anticipated that 2.4 million Brits would travel this Christmas, while Abbey reported that 2.2 million Brits will travel overseas to engage in Christmas shopping.
