28 June 2005 Asia marks six-month tsunami anniversary
Countries across Asia have been participating in special ceremonies this weekend in order to commemorate six months since the devastating Boxing Day tsunami hit the continent.
At least 200,000 people are thought to have been killed by the tsunami, which affected 13 countries.
In Indonesia, the worst-hit country, local leaders were joined by UN officials in a ceremony held in the city of Banda Aceh.
Speaking to reporters, Kuntoro Mangkusubroto, Indonesia's aid director for Aceh, said: "We would like to thank the world, all volunteers, everybody - black, white, short, tall, men and women - for their assistance."
In Sri Lanka, local people had organised an exhibition of debris collected from the aftermath of the tsunami. Organisers hoped the process would help people work through their pain.
Despite considerable progress being made during the reconstruction process, there is still conflicting opinion over whether the aid money donated has been fairly distributed.
