13 December 2007 Australian travel awards reveal top resorts
Holiday resorts all over the globe have found their way into Luxury Travel Magazine's Gold List 2008.
Among the hotels commended in the prestigious Australian travel awards were the Ritz hotel in London, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai and Bangkok's the Oriental.
The Gold list favoured tropical island destinations in the Best Overseas Resort category, with the winners including the Four Seasons Resort at Jimbaran Bay, Bali, and Sheraton Denarau Villas and Turtle Island in Fiji.
Australians are among the world's great travellers and the response to our survey shows that each year we demand a greater level of luxury and style from the hotels we choose to stay in," commented Hilary Doling, editor in chief of Luxury Travel Magazine.
Scotland's St Andrew's took the title of Best Overseas Golf Resort while Best Australian Ski Resort went to Perisher blue in New South Wales.
Whistler - which was recently named number one ski resort by Conde Nast Traveler magazine readers - was named as best overseas ski resort.
