03 November 2006 BA welcomes relaxation of baggage restrictions
Britons heading abroad this winter will have more freedom regarding the contents of their hand luggage as the Department for Transport has announced that restrictions will be relaxed from Monday November 6th, a move welcomed by British Airways (BA).
It has been announced that it will be permitted to carry liquids on board, in separate containers up to the volume of 100ml, in a single, transparent and re-sealable plastic bag.
The bag must not exceed one litre in capacity and will be limited to one per passenger.
"We at BA welcome any relaxations to the current hand luggage restrictions," said a spokesperson for BA.
"This will bring us in the UK in line with the rest of the EU and we think that it is important that we all work at a level playing field."
Holidaymakers are still subject to other restrictions on their hand luggage, with passengers still restricted to one item in addition to the transparent liquids bag.
