30 June 2005 BIBA wants more terrorism cover
The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) has called for greater provision for terrorism in travel insurance.
The call for more travel insurance policies to cover terrorism comes in light of the 274 per cent increase in attacks around the world.
Many travel insurance policies implemented blanket terrorism exclusions after September 11th, 2001, which would leave travellers uncovered for medical bills or unable to get back to the UK and facing hefty bills.
BIBA is urging people to check their policies and level of their cover before they travel.
Graeme Trudgill, BIBA's technical services manager, said: "Terrorist attacks are a growing threat and we would like to see more policies providing cover for this. In today's uncertain climate, people travelling abroad should ensure that they have comprehensive cover in place. Travel insurance is just as vital as your suitcase when going abroad."
