06 March 2008 Balearic Islands are 'fertile paradise'
Spain's Balearic Islands, a traditional destination for many UK holidaymakers, have been described as "fertile" and perfect for "laid-back glamour" by one commentator.
According to Go2Spain, Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Gran Canaria are all bustling islands when out of the summer season, and can offer a demonstration of "the sleepy Spanish way of life" to holidaymakers travelling to the traditional destination in winter.
Ibiza is reminiscent of "hippy chic", the travel company claims, and is bursting with coves and natural landscapes for travellers to explore.
"When the summer holidaymakers pack their cases and head home, destinations such as Lanzarote and Menorca fill up their calendars with art and music festivals," commented Olivia Skeen, Go2Spain's marketing manager.
She added that the Balearic and Canary Islands are "full of hidden gems" and become lively cultural hotspots in the winter months.
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic Islands and is accessed by its airport situated in the capital Palma.
