31 December 2007 Balearics 'to be top 2007 spot'
The Balearic Islands are set to be a top holiday spot for sun-seekers in 2008, it has been claimed.
According to Independent.ie, the number one destinations for sun in the new year will continue to be locations in the Balearics like Majorca as well as the Costa del Sol on mainland Spain.
Other popular hot destinations are anticipated to include Salou in Spain, the Algarve and the Canary Islands.
"We have already seen clear evidence of people saying 'I'm not going to get caught out again'. We never had such a demand for late sales before as we did last summer, particularly in late August and early September before the schools go back," Budget Travel head of marketing Clem Walshe told the publication.
Other destinations predicted for greatness in 2008 Madagascar, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras and Colombia.
The Association of British Travel Agents has claimed that 2008 will be "a great year to travel".
