30 January 2008 Bargain holidaymakers think New York, New York
British holidaymakers looking to get the most from their money while on an overseas holiday may be considering travelling to the US in 2008, it has been reported.
According to exchange service Currency UK, the weakness of the dollar is a key tourist attraction for Britons.
However, Adrian Jacob, trading director for Currency UK, said that the US is "much cheaper" than the UK in spite of the current favourable rate of exchange.
"Realistically, the States is a much cheaper place than the UK anyway
the reality is that [the exchange rate has] been at 1.90 for the last year," he added.
Mr Jacob conceded that while not a "hugely massive difference" in real terms, there was a psychological aspect to the ten per cent growth in strength of the UK pound to the US dollar.
He added that holidaymakers think that the US is a "great trip" to take when they see on the news the exchange rate.
