22 March 2006 British travellers 'drawn to Argentina'
The British are flocking to Argentina and staying longer than other international visitors according to new tourist figures.
With UK arrivals into Buenos Aires' Ezeiza International Airport up 17.3 per cent on 2004 numbers, Britons have now become the second-most frequent visitors to Argentina after the Brazilians and are apparently making the most of their visit, staying for an average of 15 days.
From the subtropical rain forests of the north, to the highest peaks in the western hemisphere in the Andes mountain range, to the glaciers of Tierra del Fuego, the country has a huge range of attractions to offer adventure-seeking tourists.
The Argentinean government recently invested £1.7 billion in their tourism sector and conducted a Tourism Argentina campaign in Britain, which it claims has resulted in this increase of UK visitors.
The second largest country in South America, Argentina rubs borders with Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia and Chile with a coastline which runs along the Atlantic Ocean for 4,725km.
