30 August 2007 Britons 'should book flights as soon as possible'
Britons looking for the best deals on their flights abroad have been advised to book their travel as soon as possible in order to get the cheapest flights.
The Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) has responded to an article in the Times regarding incidents of cheaper flight prices on offer in the US, attributing discrepancies to supply and demand issues.
While advising holidaymakers to shop around, the association stressed that the best way of finding a bargain is usually to book well in advance.
Sean Tipton, a spokesperson from Abta, said: "It is always advisable for people to shop around - but I think the best way to get a cheap deal is to book it as early as possible."
He added that on the majority of travel websites, the prices will increase as time gets nearer to that of the flight.
In May 2007, American Express reported that low-fare airlines now take holidaymakers over 200 European destinations, providing cheaper travel to Britons looking to visit family and friends on the continent.
