26 October 2007 Brits prefer genial Germany to "stressful" South Africa
Research has suggested that South Africa is the most "stress inducing" country for Britons to emigrate to in terms of so-called "hidden hurdles".
According to HiFX, South Africa scored 80 on a stress ranking scale compared to a total of 41.8, which the company claims suggests that language and culture are not the main obstacles to a move overseas.
Among the causes of stress a move to South Africa could entail are listed by HiFX as high unemployment, civil instability, increasing crime levels and complex property-sale rules.
"When moving aboard it is vital to investigate your intended destination and take steps to make the process as easy as possible. Think about the move as early as possible and seek professional assistance," Mark Bodega commented.
Meanwhile, Germany was reported to have easy links back to the UK, a stable currency and "great" social services.
Spain and France were also listed among the lesser stressful emigration destinations. Earlier this year, switfcover.com reported these were also the top two holiday destinations for Brits.
