26 February 2007 Budget airline launches new route to Milan
Budget airline easyJet has announced a new route from Bristol to Milan from April 23rd 2007, while its flights to Paris from the regional airport will be doubled to two per day from October.
The firm reports that it expects to transport in the region of 100,000 passengers on the Bristol-Milan route over the next year.
David Osborne, UK general manager of easyJet, said: "easyJet recognises that these two routes are essential for Bristol, not just for the people of the south-west travelling for business or leisure, but also to boost the local economy from inbound tourism and business links."
The company adds that Milan is a leading cultural city, citing a gothic cathedral with 135 spires as a particular landmark, in addition to the Sant'Ambrogio basilica dating from 379 AD.
Last December, Bristol International Airport announced that it had been named as the top regional airport in the world by aviation publication Passenger Terminal World.
