13 March 2008 Bulgaria 'is emerging destination for value holidays'
Bulgaria has been listed as the number one holiday resort for tourists who are travelling on a budget, it has been revealed.
A study undertaken by Teletext Holidays revealed that the emerging destination placed number one in a list of best-value for money holiday destinations for UK travellers.
Bulgaria was named in the top spot through a combination of factors, including cheap flights and value accommodation.
The Best Value Breaks survey also revealed that supplementary factors such as the cost of alcohol and food were cheaper in Bulgaria than other destinations.
It showed that beer in the emerging destination cost less per pint than in rival destinations like Spain, while its climate and scenery also helped it to secure the number one place.
Also featured in the top-20 list were emerging destinations such as Morocco and traditional destinations such as Greece, Turkey and Egypt.
