11 January 2008 "Business or pleasure" flights to Islamabad
Access to Pakistan is to be opened up to residents of Yorkshire, after a regional airport reported it is to launch flights to the country.
Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) is to introduce non-stop flights to the Pakistani region of Islamabad.
From February 7th 2008, services will be operated by Shaheen Air International on a twice-weekly basis.
"For the first time in LBIA's history the people of Yorkshire will be able to fly direct to Pakistan from their local airport. Whether it's for business or pleasure we are sure that this service will be extremely popular and we also look forward to welcoming passengers from Pakistan to Yorkshire," commented John Parkin, chief executive at LBIA.
Meanwhile, Kahlid M Sehbai, chairman of Shaheen Air International added that it was "a matter of immense pleasure and pride" to service the Leeds Bradford Pakistani community.
LBIA recently announced a series of new summer flights to "popular" holiday islands in Europe.
