04 February 2008 Canada offers 'top quality of life'
Housing and the natural environment in cities such as Vancouver and Quebec have helped make Canada top of the list in terms of quality of life, according to one study.
The NatWest IPB Quality of Life Index reveals that Canada was rated number one by expatriates surveyed on their quality of life experience.
Canada was given excellent ratings in terms of its housing, the availability of consumer goods and its natural environment - while second place New Zealand was also recognised for its schools and healthcare provision
"The chance to work or retire abroad to a place in the sun has long been a desire for many Brits, and it is interesting to note for those considering the move to wider shores that the grass can indeed be greener on the other side," commented Dave Isley, head of NatWest International Personal Banking.
The study also revealed that 87 per cent of Brits moving abroad find their new life to be "better than expected" while 91 per cent claim to be happier than they were in the UK.
Also, 90 per cent consider themselves to be financially better off following their move.
