13 February 2008 Caravanning is "growing year-on-year"
The leisure pursuit of caravanning is growing year-on-year, one commentator has claimed.
No longer solely the preserve of middle-aged couples, caravanning is now the "most popular it has ever been", a spokesperson for the Caravan Club commented.
Statistics from 1998 showed that 62.5 million holiday nights are spent in caravans each year by Britons.
"The Caravan Club celebrated its centenary in 2007 and our membership figures just grow year on year," Nikki Nichol, head of PR at the Caravan Club commented.
She added that a key attraction with caravanning is that you "haven't got to wait all year long for a one or two week holiday".
Caravan holidays offer the freedom for holidaymakers to come and go at their own pace.
