30 January 2007 Caribbean 'top cruise destination' for Brits
Cricket-loving Britons may add to the numbers heading to the Caribbean on cruise holidays this year as the World Cup takes place this spring, while the islands are already reported to be the top destination for Britons looking to take a cruise.
Assuming progress to the Super 8 stage of the tournament, England will be playing a number of games in the islands, including matches in Antigua, Guyana and Barbados.
Jo Ryzmowska, sales and marketing director at Royal Caribbean International, said: "The Caribbean remains the most popular cruise option for UK travellers."
She added that new ships from the firm would add to the appeal of the islands and would result in many peak dates for travelling being sold out long in advance.
As it does not offer packages that include tickets for the games, the firm advises those travellers interested in attending any of the world cup matches to get in touch with their travel agent.
The opening ceremony of the tournament takes place on March 11th, with games running until the final on April 28th.
