04 July 2006 'Cashback' for travellers
Holidaymakers heading to Spain this summer can get cash back when they use their debit cards.
Launched by Abbey this summer, travellers using their Abbey debit or visa electron cards in Banco Santander cash machines across Spain will be credited two per cent of the Euro amount which they withdraw.
The new Abbey deal which runs from July 1st until September 30th will give customers something back for the holiday money they spend in Spain.
Director of product marketing at Abbey, Sue Hayes, said: "Customers need to look out for any Banco Santander cash machine displaying the 'flame' in order to be entitled to cashback.
"Cashback will be paid into customer's accounts within two weeks of a withdrawal and will appear on statements the following month as 'Santander ATM cashback'."
Ms Hayes added that all transactions will still be subject to the usual terms and conditions of overseas transaction fees.
A recent poll by online travel agency, Holidays-Direct revealed that, despite being the most popular spot for British visitors, Spain has been pushed into second place as the most searched for holiday destination on the internet, beaten by Portugal.
