13 September 2006 Celebrity chef to watch over in-flight meals
The likes of TV guests All Saints and Anthea Turner, as well as other holidaymakers heading abroad may recognise the food of celebrity chef Aldo Zilli next time they fly.
Mr Zilli has been enlisted by Thomsonfly to supervise its in-flight meal services in an attempt to improve the opinion of aeroplane food.
Thomsonfly has reviewed the entirety of its in-flight service for 2007 with changes including a new entertainment system and increased seat pitch.
Colin Mitchell, managing director of the airline, said: "This partnership should go some of the way to change people's perceptions of airline meals and show there is no need to compromise on standard and choice."
Last year a US state scientist suggested that an outbreak of food poisoning in a number of countries, which can ruin holidays was a result of poorly prepared airline food.
Mr Zilli is the founder and patron of a London-based restaurant group that includes the Zilli Café, Zilli Fish and Signor Zilli Restaurant & Bar and has starred in ITV1's Celebrity Fit Club program, The Weakest Link Chef Special and restaurant review series Dinner Dates.
