15 March 2006 Cheap flights most popular with Brits
Cheap flights appear to be the most popular with UK tourists, a new study has found.
Driving an ever-increasing, more than four in ten Brits have flown with a low-cost airline.
This figure is between two and three times higher than in the four other European countries surveyed, the report by market information group TNS found.
Although Brits are happy to sacrifice comfort and service, people in Germany would rather pay higher prices for better standards.
Concerns about safety were among the highest in Spanish people.
"While in the UK and Italy airlines can generate customer loyalty through low-price offers, there seems to be a general perception among the German public that real bargains are very hard to come by," commented Michael Ehlting, senior research consultant at TNS.
For Brits anxious to save money on their holidays by booking budget flights, further savings can be made by purchasing an annual policy rather than numerous single trip policies.
