23 September 2006 China and India train trips launched
A travel company has announced a new type of trip for young people wanting a holiday with more going on than a fortnight on the beach.
i-to-i is offering a travel and volunteer combination train tour in India during November and China in December, and includes training, meals and orientation.
The China trip goes through Beijing, Xi-an and Shanghai and the experience in India includes Kolkata, Varanasi, Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.
Deirdre Bounds, founder of the company, said: "We are extremely excited by the launch of meaningful train tours and hope they will open up the world of volunteering to a much wider audience.
"Travelling by train is a great way to cover vast distances in a relatively short time, so these tours are perfect if you're itchy to explore but don't have the time to take a long trip."
i-to-i is a volunteer travel company and a member of the TEFL training network that was set up in 1996 to help travellers looking for English language teaching jobs.
