17 September 2007 Costa Del Sol "popular with newlyweds"
Love's young dream looks to be taking up residency in Spain as an increasing number of couples opt to get married on the Costa Del Sol.
Sur, the newspaper for southern Spain, reports that wedding tourists are one of the most upcoming type of visitor to the area, with couples looking to celebrate their nuptials drawn to the sunny weather of the coastline.
In particular, Irish couples are increasingly opting to marry on the Costa Del Sol, the newspaper reports.
"They come with all their family and friends, staying together in a hotel for a few weeks of celebrations," parish priest of Benalmadena, Father Manuel Torres told the publication.
"They love our climate, our food and the atmosphere of fun," Father Torres added.
According to the newspaper, benefits of marrying in the sunny Spanish coast include cheaper costs as well as warmer weather.
This type of wedding-holiday amalgamation could appeal to Brits, with a report from Experian revealing that the average Briton spends £386 per year on attending weddings in the UK.
