25 October 2007  Couples marry abroad for weather
An increasing number of British couples are seeking to tie the knot abroad in order to enjoy good weather on their big day, it has been reported.

A report from wedding and special occasion information and products provider Confetti reveals that Caribbean islands like Mauritius and Saint Lucia are favourite choices for romantics.

The news comes as WeddingsAbroad.com reported that one in ten couples intend to marry overseas.

"It does give a guarantee of good weather, usually – but not always," commented Carol Ricahrdson, PR manager for Confetti.

She added that it was "a huge growth area for the industry".
As well as overseas marriages – unions on the ocean are also popular, with Island Cruises reporting that a couple recently held a renewal of vows ceremony onboard the Island Escape as it sailed from Palma to Olbia-Sardinia.
