16 January 2008 "Critically important" air route to remain
A route between London Stansted Airport and Turin described as "critically important" is to remain in place, it has been announced.
Budget airline Ryanair reports that the route has been open for eight years and is a "vital" link for nearby Piemonte in terms of tourism.
Ryanair's deputy chief executive Michael Cawley noted that the airline and Turin Airport shared a "very successful relationship".
"In addition to the London route which has now been confirmed for the future, Ryanair also operates seasonal ski routes from Dublin, Bristol and Brussels Charleroi and looks forward to increasing this business in the coming years," he added.
In other news, Ryanair recently announced its decision to home its new European base in Birmingham.
The move will create more flight routes to Denmark, France, Italy , Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden.
