27 February 2008 Dover is "part of the holiday experience"
Ferry travel means more to holidaymakers than simply travelling from one port to another, it has been claimed.
According to the Port of Dover, there are many benefits to be found in travel by ferry.
The organisation even notes that Dover itself is "very much a part of the holiday experience".
"The whole ferry travel experience has improved in recent years, with dedicated facilities for children in terms of play areas and video screens," Keith Southey, public relations manager for the Port of Dover, said.
He added that the "great advantage" of ferry travel when compared to other forms of transport is that holidaymakers can enjoy fresh air and sea views while onboard the ferry journey.
It is this, he argued, that makes the port such a main part of the holiday experience.
Dover Harbour Board takes responsibility for the administration, maintenance and improvement of the harbour at Dover.
