06 December 2005 Dubai hosts luxury conference
As a destination renowned for its golden beaches and exclusive, futuristic hotels, Dubai has perhaps unsurprisingly been chosen for the International Herald Tribune's (IHT) Modern Luxury 2005 conference.
Prominent international and regional speakers from across the world will speak at the event, to be held on December 5th and 6th, including Georgio Armani, Diane Von Furstenberg and Elle Macpherson, reports strategyiy.com.
It is hoped that the conference will highlight the shops and facilities Dubai has to offer, and attention has been drawn to the planned 500-acre Dubai Mall, which will incorporate the world's tallest building and will house shops selling the largest mix of luxury retail concepts from around the world.
"It is no coincidence that this year's Modern Luxury conference is being held in Dubai," said Suzy Menkes, IHT's fashion editor.
"No where else in the world better demonstrates the luxury and designer consumerism. Dubai is on course to become the most densely shopped city on the planet."
Located at the centre of three continents, Dubai is expected to receive 15 million tourists by 2010, growing in its cosmopolitan nature and becoming one of the world's global retail destinations.
