03 January 2008 Eastern Europe is "emerging travel destination"
Eastern Europe has been placed at the top of a list of emerging travel destinations, it has been reported.
According to a 2008 travel trends survey by Carlson Wagonlit, the most popular eastern European destinations are Croatia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.
Other emerging destinations on the list included Central America, South America, eastern Asia and the Middle East.
For Central America Costa Rica was listed as a popular Central America location while destinations in South America included Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Galapagos and Patagonia.
China was named as a fashionable area of Asia to visit while Dubai is the subject of growing attention for holidaymakers travelling to the Middle East, the survey suggests.
"This year, more than ever, we're seeing some exciting shifts in the travel patterns of our clients," commented Roger E Block, executive vice-president of the Carlson Wagonlit travel associate division.
