05 December 2007 Edinburgh to get facelift for tourists
Details have been revealed of a new drive to promote Edinburgh as a great place for people from around the world to visit.
Part of the initiative will involve giving Edinburgh an image change and will see significant amounts of money invested with the aim of improving the allure of the city's waterfront and central urban areas.
It is hoped that over the course of the next three years the Scottish capital can increase by more than 50 per cent the amount of tourism-based revenue it generates, reports the Scotsman.
A statement from the Edinburgh Tourism Action Group, which involves both public and private sector organisations, suggested that: "The city centre is at the hub of the visitor experience."
Edinburgh hosts a range of different activities designed to entertain and interest visitors and locals alike over the Christmas period, including a fresh food market and a children's fun fair.
