05 December 2007 Enjoy the best hotels in Tokyo
Whether heading to Tokyo for business or pleasure, there are plenty of hotels to choose from and one well-travelled Briton has picked out his recommendations for where best to stay in the Japanese capital.
For people hoping to get a real flavour of traditional Japanese life, Tokyo Ryokan, Park Hotel or the Imperial Hotel can offer just such an experience, writes Justin McCurry in a recent feature for the Guardian.
Meanwhile, for visitors to Japan who prefer a slightly more contemporary experience, the Claska and Mitsui Garden Hotel Ginza each boast an altogether more up-to-date and chic environment.
There are also numerous accommodation options for travelers on a budget in Tokyo, Mr McCurry insists, pointing in particular to the backpacker-friendly Sakura Hotel and the self-proclaimed cheapest hotel in the city the New Koyo.
December tends to be a good time to visit Tokyo given that the city hosts one of the largest art festivals in Asia in the early part of the month.
