Travel-book publisher Lonely Planet has named Eritrea as one of its top choice countries to visit in 2008.
Eritrea was listed as one of six countries named by the travel guide as good holiday destinations for 2008.
"Eritrea might have one of the toughest regimes in East Africa but for travellers it's one of the most welcoming countries on the continent," the travel guidebook writes, EthioBlog reports.
Other destinations listed included Armenia, Bhutan, Montenegro, Mozambique and Papua New Guinea.
Lonely Planet claims that Eritrea boasts "extremely courteous" along with "surreal" landscapes and "pristine" reefs.
