24 September 2007 Family holidays 'more accessible because of cheap flights'
An increasing number of families who were previously unable to travel are able to see more destinations as a direct result of lower-priced flights, it has been claimed.
According to takethefamily.com, cheap flights have also provided families with the option of using regional airports - which it claims is a bonus for those travelling with children.
Meanwhile, a recent OAG report showed that there are now two million more low-cost seats available on European flights than there were in 2006.
"It has also opened up many of the local airports, which is far more attractive to families. Shorter transfer times, both at home and at your destination, are most certainly preferred where young children are concerned," a takethefamily.com spokesperson noted.
The representative added that city breaks are an increasingly popular option for families, while cheap flights also allow families to make savings on accommodation as they can book the different aspects of their holiday separately.
