20 August 2005 Further BA strikes possible
British Airways flights could be hit by more strikes after a union warned BA not to victimise those who went on strike last week.
The Transport & General Workers' Union (T&G), which represents 19,000 BA workers, is prepared to take legal industrial action in the wake of comments made in a letter to staff by Rod Eddington, the airline's chief executive.
In his letter, Mr Eddington said: "Those who took unofficial industrial action at British Airways acted in an unlawful way. As a result, they will not be paid for the time they were unlawfully absent from work.
"I have also launched a full investigation into the circumstances that brought about this unofficial and outrageous stoppage so that further appropriate action can be taken."
The strikes last week saw the cancellation of 700 flights, bringing travel disruption to 100,000 travellers.
