08 July 2005 Games to give tourism a shot in the arm
Winning the race to host the 2012 Olympics should provide London's tourism sector with a welcome boost.
London beat Paris in the final round of voting at the IOC meeting in Singapore yesterday.
The capital will now host the biggest event in world sport in seven years time.
As well as the massive investment in infrastructure the boost for tourism will be worth millions.
London is already a popular tourist destination and with the Olympics will coming to town the tourism sector is in for a major boost.
