28 August 2007 Gappers 'should make sure on cover'
As the summer draws towards an end and a number of Britons look to take some time out before they resume their studies or career, gappers have been advised to make sure they are adequately covered by a travel insurance policy while overseas.
Financial services comparison firm moneysupermarket.com recommends that gappers of all ages check any exclusions - such as sports or working - that may be on their policy, while warning that some specialist brands offer less cover for more money.
Peter Gerrard, head of insurance research at moneysupermarket.com, said: "With the prospect of spending months abroad, it is essential to consider insurance.
"Checking the small print of a policy is crucial."
He added that gappers should make sure they are covered for the complete duration of their travels, while advocating shopping around for the best travel insurance deal available.
Earlier this month, Bradford & Bingley reported that a third of grown-up gappers are now aged over 50.
