01 November 2007 Gatwick's new centre 'will help passengers'
Gatwick airport has said that its new Onward Travel Centre will make travelling easier for passengers.
All necessities for onward travel from the airport will now be found in one place, Caroline Alderson, head of communications for BAA Gatwick, said.
"It brings together all the options for onward travel, which includes taxis, coaches, trains, etcetera, in one place so that it's very easy to spot when passengers are arriving into Gatwick," Ms Alderson said.
The introduction of the centre is part of the airport's efforts to encourage "about 40 per cent" of passengers who are not transferring to another flight to opt for public transport to make their way home.
Ms Alderson added that while the centre is helpful for arriving passengers, it is not exclusively for their use.
Gatwick's new Onward Travel Centre opened on Monday with Southern Trains, Gatwick Express and National Express Coaches among the options available to passengers.
