06 July 2005 HSBC offers commission-free currency
HSBC has said it could save British travellers hundreds of pounds by providing commission free cash for trips abroad.
The bank says it will be offering the service gratis for those spending over £250 online, with free delivery under £10 also thrown in.
HSBC's head of travel money, John Nicholson, said that the firm was aiming to build on the growing trend for online holiday bookings as well as providing up to £50 million in cumulative cost savings.
"UK holidaymakers cite convenience and savings in cost and time as the key reasons for arranging their holiday online and HSBC's online travel services support all three," he explained.
"Our commission free online travel money, which is delivered free for online orders over £250, coupled with our competitively priced online travel insurance, provide a convenient way of saving time and money that is quick and easy to arrange."
HSBC's service covers more than 70 different currencies, and also nine distinct travellers cheques.
