08 April 2006 Holiday bag snatch
Female holidaymakers should ensure that they are adequately covered before they head off on holiday this year as their possessions could be a risk.
A new report from Churchill Home Insurance found that nearly one in ten women has their handbag stolen while on holiday and with bags likely to contain anything from travellers cheques, credit cards, to passports, cameras and expensive sun glasses, without adequate cover it could be a very expensive and inconvenient loss to bear.
Spokesperson for Churchill Home Insurance, Abi Clark, said: "The theft or loss of a bag can cause a woman no end of problems, stress and worry. We carry a lot of value in our bags and it can take substantial time and money to cancel credit cards, have new home and car keys cut and replace lost luxury items too."
The report also showed that nearly a quarter of women had their bags stolen from a bar or pub and that 72 per cent of women constantly fear that their bag will be lost or snatched.
Top travel tips from advice site About travel recommend that women should be always be aware of their surroundings, look and act confident, be alert and stride along as though they know where they are going to make sure they don't become a target.
