21 January 2008 Holiday in style
Some of the most stylish holiday destinations for the coming year have been highlighted by the Times.
The newspaper notes that a number of destinations across the United States are likely to remain popular with UK tourists, but other locations, such as Prague, are also featuring a resurgence in popularity with those looking for style.
"Stag parties are carousing in Tallinn these days, so the smart set has fallen back in love with this medieval marvel," the paper says of the Czech capital, adding that Rocco Forte's new Augustine hotel, a converted 13th century monastery is set to open this summer.
Other destinations that the newspaper highlights include the Maldives, Madagascar, Colombia and Oman, where the Zighy Bay is noted as an "I'll sell the kids if I have to" destination for 2008.
But in the US, the new Greenwich Hotel, owned by Robert De Niro, is hotly anticipated as a new destination for the coming year.
In related news, the Baltic state of Latvia has also been recommended by the paper for those looking for something different to a typical Mediterranean beach holiday.
