07 June 2007 Holidaymakers advised to buy currency online
Rather than heading to the high street to pick up foreign currency for holidays abroad, Britons have been advised to purchase dollars over the internet for an improved interest rate.
Online price comparison site Peopleschampion.com has recently formed a partnership with foreign exchange provider Travelex to offer holidaymakers currency-purchasing deals.
Jim Spowart, chairman of the company, said; "Traditionally, consumers have gone to their high street bank or the post office for their foreign currency.
"What's the point in giving the money to the bank when you can be spending it on yourself?"
The wesbsite offers consumers the ability to purchase over 70 international currencies either in cash or travellers cheque, with free delivery for purchases worth over £500.
Last December, moneysupermarket.com reported that the airport can be the most expensive place to purchase foreign currency and advised holidaymakers to shop around in advance for the best deals.
