19 September 2007 Holidaymakers 'opting for more short breaks'
Britons are increasingly opting for taking more short breaks as opposed to one long holiday, it has been revealed.
According to Halifax, the traditional concept of a long summer holiday abroad has now been replaced with several shorter ones as budget airlines make it easier for holiday makers to travel abroad throughout the year.
A spokesperson for Halifax noted that low-fare airlines make it permissible for consumers to go on weekend breaks.
"There is a trend towards more short breaks rather than one long summer holiday," David Bruce, a spokesperson for Halifax. Stated.
Meanwhile, budget airline Ryanair has recently issued a call for more low-fare routes to be added to Malta's flight list, noting that doing so would unlock the island's potential.
Ryanair was recently awarded its eighth route in Malta - flying to Venice Treviso.
