28 November 2006 Holidays 'spark winter travel'
Millions of Britons are planning on taking a trip abroad this Christmas, it has been reported.
Research from Halifax has revealed that 2.5 million people have arrangements to travel abroad this year, with holidaymakers packing Christmas presents to the value of £727 million.
Vicky Watson at Halifax Travel said: "Travellers should be warned that each January we see a substantial rise in claims for Christmas presents that have been lost, stolen or damaged abroad.
She added that before travelling, holidaymakers should ensure they are sufficiently covered.
Last week, More Than reported that many Britons are eager to use up their holiday time from work before the end of the year, with 25 per cent of employees still with ten or more days leave available to them.
