26 November 2007 Honeymoons 'still integral part of wedding'
The popularity of honeymoons for newlywed couples has not waned, it has been revealed.
According to hitched.co.uk, the honeymoon is an important aspect of a wedding as it is the first chance for a newly-married couple to spend time alone together.
Furthermore, Francesca Moore, a spokesperson from hitched.co.uk, added that honeymoons work to prolong the actual wedding day itself.
"Going on a honeymoon prolongs the experience of getting married, so it's not over as soon as the last guest goes home at the end of the wedding night. It's a big part of the whole wedding planning process," she continued.
Last year, the Telegraph revealed that the amount spent on honeymoons annually has reached between £500 million and £600 million - double the amount spent in 1998.
Ms Moore noted that honeymoons were not "normal" holidays and were a "huge deal".
