13 December 2007 Increase in long-haul travel in November
There was an increase in long-haul air travel for the month of November 2007, it has been reported.
According to BAA, its UK airports catered to the needs of 10.8 million passengers last month - a total 1.5 per cent more than in November 2006.
BAA reports that longer-haul routes were a "key market" and performed the strongest during this period.
"North Atlantic traffic was up by 5.9 per cent, helped by a rise in UK and European originating traffic encouraged by the weaker dollar, while other long-haul routes recorded a collective increase of seven per cent," BAA noted.
Earlier this month BAA reported that long-haul flights to emerging markets such as Dubai, Hong Kong, India and China remain popular among travellers.
Donna Casey, spokesperson for BAA Heathrow, added that New York, Los Angeles and Sydney were also popular long-haul destinations.
