11 October 2007 "Increasing demand" for flights between London and Genoa
There is an increasing air passenger demand for routes between London and Genoa, Italy, it has been claimed.
According to British Airways, this is partly due to the popularity of the Mediterranean cruise industry - which has seen a rise in the number of cruise ships docked in Genoa.
Resultantly, the airline has made the decision to introduce a daily flight service between Genoa and London's Gatwick Airport as of April 4th 2008.
"Italy is a key market for British Airways across both our leisure and commercial business and we consider every opportunity to grow further in this area," said Mark Moscardini, British Airways commercial manager for Italy and Malta.
He added that BA was "committed" to supporting the growth of tourism in the region.
Those travelling to Genoa may be interested to know that the seaport was the birthplace of both pesto and explorer Christopher Columbus, Time Out reveals.
