13 March 2008 Ireland is 'emerging destination'
Ireland is an increasingly emerging destination in terms of tourist travel, it has been reported.
According to Tourism Ireland, the upcoming St Patrick's Day events are a "good focus" for tourism to Ireland.
A spokesperson added that the emerging destination is increasing in popularity on the whole and offers holidaymakers a "wealth of activities".
"People are increasingly taking longer holidays to Ireland and St Patrick's is a good focus for this, now being a several day festival. We are keen to promote longer holidays," she added.
She also noted that there is plenty available for all types of travellers from sight-seeing, beaches, walking, cycling, horse riding, climbing, city breaks, foodie holidays, to driving, watersports and "much more".
The spokesperson claimed that St Patrick's Day has in recent years become the focal point of a Dublin festival that reflects the "diverse talents" of the Irish.
