21 November 2007 Italy 'popular at Christmas'
Holidays to Italy are in demand over the Christmas period, it has been reported.
According to a report by Stansted Airport, Rome Ciampino and Milan are popular regions to visit during the yuletide season.
The news comes as Thomsonfly reports that Christmas is a "very popular" time of year in which to holiday overseas.
"The Christmas getaway is traditionally the airport's second busiest time of the year after the August Bank Holiday," a spokesperson for Stansted Airport agreed.
Meanwhile a representative for Thomsonfly noted that Christmas was a popular time for overseas travel because both parents and children have overlapping time off work and school making it convenient to book holidays.
She added that some holidaymakers opted for trips to Lapland as well as themed breaks.
