18 September 2007 Korea is 'key Asian tourist market for Fiji'
Korea is on its way to becoming the second largest Asian tourism market for Fiji, it has been claimed.
Fiji Visitors Bureau chairman Patrick Wong told the Fiji Times Online that the extension of Korean Airline to Fiji has resulted in an influx of tourists.
Meanwhile, Fiji Islands Hotel and Tourism Association president Dixon Seeto added that the extension of Korean air services has not only positively benefited the tourism market but also Fijian business.
"It is a good thing because it will help develop tourism, trade and boost exports," he told the publication.
The news follows the establishment of a resident diplomatic mission in Korea by Fiji.
According to the newspaper, relations between the two nations have been so far "consistently cordial politically and vibrant economically and trade-wise".
Fiji's idyllic white sands and luscious tropical forests make it a favourite among tourists, with tourism making up an important part of the country's revenue.
