06 November 2007 Lufthansa launches Bristol-Frankfurt flight
A new flight service from Britain to Germany is to begin, it has been revealed.
From March 30th, Lufthansa will launch a thrice-daily service from Bristol to Frankfurt, news which could be welcomed by those living around the Bristol area who are looking to go on a European city break next year.
Dr Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht, head of hub management at Frankfurt, said: "We are currently the only scheduled airline offering non-stop flights from Germany to Bristol from next summer."
He pointed out that the flight service will deliver "considerable time savings" for many travellers.
Meanwhile, those flying from the south-west airport will be able to connect on a flight to 139 destinations across the world after arriving at Frankfurt.
As a result of the announcement, Bristol has become the seventh UK airport Lufthansa flies from following London, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Birmingham and Newquay.
In related news, British Airways has announced the launch of routes from Gatwick to Poznan in Poland and Antalya in Turkey from March next year.
